Experience the Experiential Walk-through!

A 44-feet tall Experiential installation, embarking on a journey to portray, Gluttony, a cardinal sin by showcasing the excessive data consumption (represented using the newspapers) the world is driving towards. Here, the ‘tentacles’ are claustrophobically wrapping themselves around everything within their reach (the assigned area and surrounding construction here). Everything is stemming out of a blackhole which symbolises mindless consumption, further solidifying the truest nature of a Glutton, satirically representing the world that we live in. There is one thing that all of us are guilty of over-indulging in: DATA. INFORMATION.
In a world where capitalism prevails and supermarkets, social media are flooding the streets, gluttony of information consumption seems to be a sin committed by all. This installation showcases 'Information gluttony' as the main focus. In the constructed installation, the epicenter depicts the form of a black hole. Since, blackholes have such strong gravitational effects that not even particles and light can escape from it, it has been used metaphorically in the installation to convey the over-consumption of information in the form of media. According to a research, on an average, 75GB of information is consumed everyday by an internet user and the elements of the installation which are in the form of tentacles with its skin made of newspaper, depicts the information that has been consumed. While the tentacles protruding out of the black hole trying to engulf everything around portray the uncontrolled consumption of data, the installation area with the widely spread tentacles engulfing the space illustrate the enormity of this over-indulgence of data consumption in one’s life.
Layout and Construction Plan
Colour palette and lighting
InfoGluttonous was build over a span of 36 hours. It was made from the scrapped aluminium frames wrapped with discarded newspapers and sarees. The whole structure was made using various kinds of electrical wastes. The folded and textured newspaper is also symbolic of the bits of data that is making the monster and its tentacles grow from the blackhole and engulfing the surroundings.

Skeletal Construction: Using discarded aluminium sections and wrapped with different textures of newspapers derived from various libraries and Sarees that were generously donated for the installation
